A brilliant piece. I’m rather embarrassed to admit I used to keep a score with bad friendships. It was almost like I needed to prove to myself that I made all the effort. Now when I recognise this - and there is no reason for it - as in a friend going through a tough time - I stop. I stop driving things and I stop doing all the running.

Keeping score is almost synonymous with always trying to be right. There’s a “ha, I knew it” or a “I told you so” sort of vibe to it. Thanks Vidya 🙏
