As a child I had a few extremely sarcastic people around me. They were bullies! I wonder if satire is an effective and safe use as often it isn’t directed at those who hear the comments, instead it often involves them and brings them into the fold. A union. The target of the satire is often a large organisation, policy, construct, etc.

Whereas sarcasm has a targeted person who is present and risks being hurt. Just my musings.
