Brilliantly written. I completely agree. I also makes me think of babies and young children having their ears pierced. I know this is a cultural norm in some areas, but I personally think it is tantamount to assault.

I wrote a piece recently about the way we shame and sexualize young girls through full swimming costumes and bikinis. It was interesting to hear all the different views in response to it.
