What are your favorite memories?

Sit down, relax with a hot drink and reflect on your life. What memories stand out and why?

For most people, special memories involve spending time with loved ones. A shared sense of togetherness. New experiences with lashings of love and adventure.

Get Creative

Several Christmases ago, I didn’t buy tangible gifts for my loved ones.

I considered each of my loved ones in turn. What they enjoy doing and what we enjoy doing together. Then I brainstormed how I can help them or how we can build upon our relationship together.

🏃‍♀️ For my running companion, a tasty meal out, with my own chauffeur services thrown in for good measure. We spend a lot of time together, but most of it is chasing each other over trails. This was something different. Something to break our habits, dress up, and enjoy new culinary experiences together.

👱‍♀️ For a special little person in my life, a trip to the donkey sanctuary. Supporting a local charity and interacting with the charismatic donkeys, win-win. She still talks about this experience today, or maybe it’s me who still talks about it. Hmmm, what can I say, I love donkeys!

👩‍💼For a friend with limited spare time or childcare. A homemade meal delivered to her house with the bonus (depending on which way you look at it 🤣) of my company for the evening.

💏For a very dear couple, who rarely have the opportunity to spend time together. A ticket for a night out, with a meal, transport, and childcare all included.

Can you see the pattern yet?

You may buy the latest gadget or piece of designer clothing. You may light faces up with fancy jewelry and cuddly teddies. But will we think of these items on our death bed?

Ultimately, stuff does not make us happy in the long term.

An article in the Guardian expresses the 5 most common regrets of the dying. Let me tell you…
