I agree 99% with this. We do need to be careful of toxic positivity. There is the 1% of time where looking for a silver lining is undermining of feelings. For instance - tragic fatal accidents. If someone loses their baby and they tell themselves “it could have been worse” it doesn’t always allow them to deal with the grief. Sometimes in a moment in time it helps to sit and mourn. Oh f course we don’t want to stay in that place forever.
So absolutely - it could have been worse applies to most situations but there are a few outliers. Thank you as ever for instigating thought provoking discussion. 😀
