It Takes Courage and Kindness To Listen to Our Hearts and Let Go of Expired Friendships

Liberation is achieved when we listen to our yearnings

The world is perpetually moving and grooving. Energies in relationships shift with the tide. Sometimes they are up, and sometimes they are down. But what happens when the wave is constantly out?

Nothing stays the same forever. And yet too often, we exhaust ourselves by trying to resist change.

I am living through a period of transition. Through my soul searching and learning, I am finally giving myself the grace to honor myself. From a young age, I was taught I was secondary to others. I genuinely believed kindness was sacrificial, and I must put others first to be kind.

But to be genuinely kind, we must listen to our yearnings and learn to be kind to ourselves. It takes time and practice to undo old habits, but I am making progress.

I have written before about my learned role in friendships. Over the last few years, I have slowly untangled a giant ball of friendship yarn. Some knots were easy to undo. Others required to be cut out entirely.
