My Most Popular Medium Articles of 2023

My most-read story isn’t necessarily my highest earner; what about you?

I’ve been checking out my story stats as part of my 2023 reflection.

My highest earners aren’t necessarily my most read. Medium’s differentiation between internal and external reads comes into play here.

And most viewed aren’t always the most read. Phew, it gets confusing right?

This story from 2022 One Eay Way to Tell If You Have Freakishly Long Arms is my third most-read piece of all time. It has amounted 16.2k views via Google alone. And guess how much it has earned me? Drum roll please…

$5.96!

Perhaps the reason for this is that only one percent of the views are internal. SIGH. So it is a win for SEO and a lose for my pocket.

Anyway, back to 2023.

I always think it is interesting to share stats, including earnings, without doing so in a crass way. I don’t do this regularly, but I am going to be fully transparent about my top five articles of this year.

Top 5 articles of 2023 based on reads

I find a test of resonance is the number of times an article is shared. My top-read articles have high share rates…
