I think it's worrisome that there seems to be a greater extreme in parenting styles. Because the kids that are being brought up by parents who can't possibly recognize that meaning and fulfilment is found in a myriad of ways - these are the ones that lump pressure on to their children into adult life to be a certain way. And if they are anything other than what they want them to be, heck it's going to be tough going.
These types of parents see their children as an extension of themselves, as opposed to a living, breathing, thinking individual in their own right.
