Thank you for this. I feel we still have a long way to go. As we are still prescribed who we are "allowed" to grieve for. When my beloved Princess Jasper passed away, at that moment in my life, no one else's passing would have impacted me as profoundly as hers. And yet, because she was a dog, and not a parent or sibling or child. There was no compassionate leave.
Whilst I was suffering and dragging myself into work, a colleague got time off for his wife's grandmothers death! Who he wasn't even close with!
We can not decide who people are allowed to grieve.
It's such a difficult one.
