Yes, I imagine the employees without pets may push back. But the reality it’s exactly the same for those who have children vs those who don’t. Those with children are given all the time necessary for child centred reasons – and I’m in favour of this. But those of us with animals need the same in return. For instance I’ve had to take AL to take my dog to the vet, whereas parents can just leave to take kids to a Dr appointment.

To those reading thinking children “trump” animals. This isn’t a children vs animals debate. It’s about doing what is right and fair for the employee.
